Fr.C.G.Thomas comes from an ancient family of priests (Poovathur family at Chengannoor). He is the nephew of the late Mar Thomas Dionysius (Metropolitan, Founder & Manager of Mount Tabor Dayara & other institutions at Pathanapuram) & Rev.Fr.C.M.Issac.
Achen was born in Callampurathu Poovathur family at Mavelikara to Mr.C.M.George (late) & Mrs.Accamma George. He has one sister Elizabeth Varghese & three brothers, Prof.George Mathew, Mr.George Kuruvilla & Prof.C.G.Issac.
He is married to Rubymole, Kochuveedu, Kizhakketheruv, Kottarakara and they have been blessed with 2 children, Rebecca Thomas & George Thomas.
He was ordained as a Deacon by His Holiness Baselious Marthoma Mathews II, Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan in 1984 at Parumala seminary.
His Grace Thomas Mar Timotheos Metropolitan, designate Catholicos ordained him as a Priest at Mount Tabor Dayara in the presence of His Grace Zachariah Mar Dionysius Metropolitan (late) on June 11, 1988.
Since 1984 to 1989 he was an assistant Chaplain of Mar Elia Chapel & M.G.D.M.Hospital, Devagiri, Kangazha, Kottayam. After his service at Kangazha, His Grace Geevarghese Mar Ivanios, Metropolitan of Kottayam Dioceses appointed him as a Vicar of St.Thomas Orthodox church, South Pampady, Kottayam (3 years). His Grace Thomas Mar Athanasios, Metropolitan of Chengannoor diocese, appointed him as Vicar of St.Greogoris Orthodox Church Kuttamperoor, Mannar (1 year).
He earned his BA degree from Kerala University, Trivandrum. He studied at the Orthodox Theological Seminary at Kottayam where he received his BD (Bachelor in Divinity) degree.
Fr.C.G.Thomas came to the Unites States of America in September 1996. American Diocesan Metropolitan His Grace Mathews Mar Barnabas appointed him as Vicar of St.George Malankara Orthodox Church, Dallas in 1996. Under his leadership, we built our new church and consecrated it June 30th and July 1st, 2006.
